MESSAGE FROM ROB STEIR, CO-FOUNDER
MBAs4NYC (and when we morph into MBAs4Katrina in December) was formed because of necessity -- the necessity to assist small business owners who did not ask for
9/11 or Hurricane Katrina. When I came up with the idea for MBAs4NYC, it was in direct response to providing an easy way for high-level MBAs to give-back and volunteer their time and talents.
I was fortunate to be in the position to reach out by e-mail to about 1500 MBAs in the NY area who were members of MBA GlobalNet, and not only did we find our first Board and Executive Director from this membership, but a majority of our initial volunteers.
The theory being is you could make it easy for busy professionals to volunteer, then they would. Luckily, with a great deal of hard work and dedication from our key contributors and volunteers, the theory worked out brilliantly.
It's truly not About Us. It's about helping these small businesses and that's our mission, plain and simple.
As MBAs4Katrina ramps up, we are seeking new volunteers, donations to fund a full-time executive director and staff to be in New Orleans and other hard-hit communities that require our assistance.
We need your help. I feel strongly that MBAs should provide pro-bono services, similar to lawyers,
and working with us, volunteering your time and giving donations is a great way to give back. We look forward to hearing from you.
